Hello, hello, hello! Welcome to Be Not Afraid—Only Believe, the blog my parents decided to start—or delegated to me to start—in order to keep everyone informed as to my dad and this new chapter in our lives. If you're looking for the basics, check out the second page on the sidebar on the right ("L" is for Leukemia). That will give you a run-down of what's happened. But besides updates on how Dad is doing (he is great, by the way), the purpose of this blog is to record our journey. To record the lessons we've learned, the blessings fulfilled, the faith proven, and the miracles witnessed.

So why not start with a few lessons we've already learned?

From the beginning, what struck me the most was the faith and strength of my parents. Not only have they been positive and uplifting, but they are happy. When we go to visit Dad, it's not upsetting or depressing or anything akin—we have a pretty great time. In fact, there hasn't been a time when I haven't left feeling better. If you know Dad, you know what I mean. He just knows. He knows his purpose. He knows how to be happy. He loves God, he loves the Gospel, and he loves sharing that with other people.

Mom has been nothing but positive. She keeps us updated (we're not always able to go the hospital with her) and takes us to visit whenever she can. Just when I imagine others would buckle under the stress, Mom finds another reserve of strength and peace and just keeps going. She has been an incredible example of strength to me.

We've also learned that people are just good. They innately want to help and give and never think of receiving anything in return. To everyone who has offered a hand, has given a hug, has said a prayer—we all feel an immeasurable sense of gratitude. There truly is strength in numbers. The Lord has greatly blessed us by surrounding our family with good people who are so willing to lend a hand. Thank you.

Dad also wants to be sure to include a scripture in these posts. Today, it's 2 Nephi 2:24-25: "But behold, all things have been done in the wisdom of him who knoweth all things. Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy."

God truly knows all things, and this trial has come to our family at this time for a reason. We trust Him and are eager to discover the ways in which we will grow closer to each other and just as importantly, become more like Him as we endure faithfully. And while we're at it, we definitely plan on being happy :)

Bienvenidos a No Temas—Cree Solamente, el blog que mis padres decidieron empezar—o me delegaron a mí para empezar—con el fin de mantener a todos informados en cuanto a mi Papá y este nuevo capítulo en nuestras vidas. Pero además de actualizaciones en cuanto a cómo le está yendo a Papá (por cierto, él está genial), el propósito de este blog es hacer un registro de nuestro viaje. Registrar las lecciones que hemos aprendido, las bendiciones que se han cumplido, la fe que se ha probado, y los milagros de los que hemos sido testigos.

Entonces, ¿por qué no empezar con algunas lecciones que ya hemos aprendido?

Desde el comienzo, lo que más me impactó fue la fe y la fortaleza de mis padres. No sólo han sido positivos y edificantes, sino también felices. Cuando vamos a visitar a Papá, no es perturbador o deprimente o nada por el estilo – pasamos un gran momento. De hecho, no ha habido una oportunidad en la que me haya ido sin sentirme mejor. Si conoces a Papá, sabes a lo que me refiero. Él simplemente sabe. Él conoce su propósito. Él sabe cómo ser feliz. Él ama a Dios, él ama el Evangelio, y él ama compartir eso con otras personas.

Mamá no ha sido más que positiva. Ella nos mantiene actualizados (nosotros no siempre podemos ir al hospital con ella) y nos lleva a visitarlo cuando puede. Justo cuando me imagino que otros se dejarían vencer por el estrés, Mamá encuentra otra reserva de fortaleza y paz y simplemente sigue adelante. Ella ha sido un increíble ejemplo de fortaleza para mí.

También hemos aprendido que la gente simplemente es buena. Ellos de forma innata quieren ayudar y dar y nunca piensan en recibir nada a cambio. A todo aquél que haya ofrecido una mano, dado un abrazo, dicho una oración – todos nosotros sentimos un inconmensurable sentido de gratitud. Esto es realmente fortaleza en números. El Señor nos ha bendecido enormemente rodeando a nuestra familia con buenas personas que están dispuestas a brindar una mano. Gracias.

Papá también quiere asegurarse de incluir una escritura en estas publicaciones. Hoy, es 2 Nefi 2:24-25: “Pero he aquí, todas las cosas han sido hechas según la sabiduría de aquel que todo lo sabe. Adán cayó para que los hombres existiesen; y existen los hombres para que tengan gozo.”

Dios realmente conoce todas las cosas, y esta prueba que ha venido a nuestra familia en este tiempo es por una razón. Confiamos en Él y estamos ansiosos por descubrir la manera en la que nos acercaremos más el uno al otro y tan importante como eso, nos volveremos más como Él al perseverar fielmente. Y mientras estamos en eso, definitivamente planeamos ser felices :)
